"Le noma: de l'oubli à la reconnaissance comme maladie tropicale négligée."

Maladie qui tue et qui défigure, le noma est décrit depuis l'Antiquité. Pourtant il reste peu connu des professionnels de santé, du monde académique, mais aussi des décideurs de l'OMS ou des pays où cette affection est prévalente. Genève a fortement contribué à l'amélioration de la prise en charge chirurgicale du noma, mais aussi sur le plan des connaissances scientifiques sur les facteurs de risque. Dans cette présentation, les orateurs vont décrire la maladie et présenter des travaux qui auront contribué, d'une part, à mieux cibler les actions de prévention et d'autre part à faire sortir le noma de l'oubli et du déni qui l'ont accompagné tout au long des siècles.
